Supervisor of Special Services

The Supervisor of Special Services oversees the Department of Special Services for the Lebanon Township School District.  Her job responsibilities include the following:

             To manage the flow of work for Child Study Team evaluations and re-evaluations so that cases move efficiently;

            To maintain records and files of all classified students;

            To develop procedures to assure that the district remains in compliance with state and federal law;

            To supervise preparations for special education monitoring;

            To assist the building principals in the development of their school schedules to assure that the needs of special education students will be met;

            To arrange for home instruction for students;

            To arrange for, monitor and evaluate related services (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, etc);

            To schedule all special education students into appropriate services and ensure that students receive the services as specified in their IEPs;

            To submit special education transportation requests;

To provide input into special education policy and procedures;

            To provide consultation to the principals;

            To work with the administration to evaluate and improve the provision of special education services in the district;

            To make yearly budget requests for CST and special education staff, supplies and equipment;

            To maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and procedures relating to special education;

            To interview and provide hiring recommendations for all special services personnel;

To assist with staff development for special services personnel;

In coordination with the superintendent and building principals, to supervise and evaluate the performance of special services and special education personnel;

To complete state and federal reports, as needed;

To coordinate the transition of disabled 8th grade students into ninth grade;

To annually assess the district’s needs for special education services and make appropriate recommendations to the superintendent.

 Mrs. Meyer also serves as a School Psychologist for the Lebanon Township School District.  In this capacity she is the member of the Child Study Team responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis and programming for the psychological needs of individual students.  She also serves as a psychological consultant to students, their families, teachers and other school personnel.
